CT Wrap: Risk-On Came Back, But It Stopped at the Top

Risk appetite returned this week and then stalled at the top: the majors led, memes are only now catching a bid, and it was old-guard names like SHIB and BONK doing the work, not the hype coins. Here is what actually moved Crypto Twitter today.

The setup: risk-on, but shallow

The bid came back to crypto this week, but it stopped at the top. Bitcoin is hovering in the mid $60,000s and Ether has clawed back toward $1,940 after dipping under $1,880 late last week. The move has been led by the majors, not the small caps. As one market recap put it, risk appetite is back at the top of the market and has not fully rotated down to memes yet. It is also a cautious kind of risk-on: Bitcoin spot ETFs saw roughly $225 million of net outflows in a single day late last week, as higher Treasury yields and fresh tariff talk pulled money out of risk assets.

SHIB quietly won the week

The meme story most people are missing is Shiba Inu. SHIB is up about 29% over the last seven days and roughly 8% on the day, pushing its market cap back around $3.1 billion and, at points this week, back above Pepe. PEPE is still the louder name and had a strong session of its own (up about 8% in 24 hours near a $1.25 billion cap), but it was the older, more liquid meme that led. Dogecoin, still the largest meme by a wide margin near an $11 billion cap, barely moved, up under 1% on the week, which fits the pattern that has held all month: DOGE keeps lagging the rally. On Solana, Bonk was the standout, up roughly 12% over seven days.

What the timeline is actually posting

Beyond the majors, the chatter is where it usually is: Pepe, a rotating cast of Solana meme tickers, and the recurring story of Turbo, the meme coin famously built start to finish by an AI model on a roughly $69 budget, which keeps pulling in new buyers every time it resurfaces. One thing to flag, as opinion: a growing share of "trending" meme talk right now is presale tokens being pushed hard by paid promotion, not organic buzz. Treat a coin that only exists inside presale threads as marketing until proven otherwise.

MemeCore, one week later

Worth a look back. MemeCore (M), the token that ran more than 90% in a week and then handed back double digits in a day, has since cooled to roughly flat. It is trading near $1.23 with a market cap around $1.6 billion and little net movement over the past week. That is the whole meme-coin lesson in one chart. The vertical move is the exception; the long, choppy give-back is the rule.

Our read

The following is ScalpStreet analysis, not reporting. A rotation that starts with the biggest, most liquid meme names like SHIB and BONK is generally healthier than one led by brand-new hype coins, because it means real money is testing the water rather than gamblers chasing a launch. But it is early and it is shallow. The majors are doing the heavy lifting, and memes are catching a bid, not leading one. None of this makes meme coins safe. They remain the highest-risk corner of crypto, most eventually go to zero, and the presale wave flooding the timeline is a reason for more caution, not less. Watch the rotation, keep the size small, and never put in more than you would be fine losing entirely.
